Wow—2023 went fast and here we are a month into the new year. Here is a little quote from my poem “Rimrock Canyon Winter”:
Tonight, annual rituals are performed;
last years’ journal is reread and rehashed,
a completed calendar thrown away and a new one started.
Every January I look forward to the process of looking back at the prior year in my journals and then consider my goals for the new year. In 2023, I continued my travels to Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Colorado, Texas, Maine and Canada. It was a bucket-list item to visit Prince Edward Island, land of Anne of Green Gables. I had several poems published and continue to sell my book online and at The Haberdashery. I started volunteering at “The Haber” and it is so great to be able to discuss it with visitors in person. I participated in the kick off of “Poetry on the Road” in Deadwood, South Dakota. This is a program sponsored by the South Dakota State Poetry Society where they are visiting over 16 cities this year to encourage folks to read their poems. I have submitted many of my new poems to various journals for consideration and cannot wait to see what new poems find me this year.

Yesterday is forgotten,
Today takes care of itself,
And tomorrow is a vague term
For the future.
